The Bosscha Observatory 💫
THE BOSSCHA
The Bosscha Observatory (formerly known as Bosscha Sterrenwacht) was built at the initiation of Karel Albert Rudolf (K.A.R.) Bosscha. Assisted by his nephew, R.A. Kerkhoven and a Dutch East Indies astronomer, Joan George Erardus Gijsbertus Voûte, Bosscha gathered interested people to form an association that would realize the idea of building an observatory.
Karel Bosscha was willing to be the main funder and promised to provide assistance in purchasing telescopes. As an appreciation for the services of K.A.R. Bosscha was in the construction of this observatory, so the name Bosscha was immortalized as the name of this observatory. Bosscha Observatory was inaugurated on January 1, 1923.

Bosscha Observatory Mission
1. Implement the Tri Dharma of Higher Education as stipulated by the Bandung Institute of Technology.
2. Become a leader and leader in the advancement of astronomy and astrophysics in Indonesia.
3. Contribute to the advancement of astronomy and astrophysics in the world.
4. Become a mainstay in astronomy and astrophysics education and its use in Indonesia and regional areas.
Bosscha Observatory is the oldest modern observatory in Indonesia, and one of the oldest in Asia.
